I have taught a variety of high school math and science courses including Algebra, Precalculus, Physical Science, Physics, Scientific Inquiry, and Engineering.
I'm on a personal crusade against lecture-based teaching. On my store, you'll find a variety of activities and materials that put students in charge of their own learning. Embracing a constructivist teaching philosophy will allow you to have more meaningful interactions with your students as you circulate and probe versus stand and deliver. At the end of each period your kids - not you - should be the ones who are exhausted from all the work they have done!
I currently work a day job as a Network Content Lead supporting all of the high school math and science teachers in my school network; I design standards-aligned curriculum, write benchmark assessments, and coach individual teachers one-on-one. In my spare time, I write science curriculum for the state of Louisiana to support our adoption of new science standards modeled after the Next Generation Science Standards.
I have a BS in Multidisciplinary Science Education (Math/Physics) from Texas Tech University and a MA in Education Leadership from Columbia University Teachers College.
