I'm a National Board Certified teacher, which focuses on Early and Middle Childhood Literacy. In addition, I hold a Common Branch Certification in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade and a Literacy Specialist License. This is my 17th year teaching in a Title One public school--although I have experience teaching many grade levels, the majority of my teaching years are in the upper grades.
I am fluent in Balanced Literacy and I use the workshop model in reading, writing, and math. I use data from conferences, small groups, and assessments to drive my instruction. I use differentiated instruction within math and literacy stations, individual conferences, and in strategy/guided groups.
I achieved National Board Certification in November 2010.
I attended SUNY Oneonta where I graduated with honors in Elementary Education. I had a concentration in English and a Special Education Minor. I went to Bank Street College of Education in Manhattan and received my Masters in Literacy Specialization.
I currently teach 4th grade in a Title One public school.
