It was only a matter of time before the novelty of our new program wore off. Study Island was fun at first, but eventually my students were just click-click-clicking their way through assignments, at times with out even reading anything! They needed

Let's face it, we all have off days. Sometimes, those off days happen to fall on test dates and we bomb something huge. With assessments being worth over half of my students' grade, I like to offer the option of a retake test. The point of the

If you are like me, you are tired of students TATTLING! I keep a reporting station in my classroom for students to write down all their tales and woes. I found that it helped to: 1). reduce the amount of tattling because the students couldn't be

This is a great survey to give your parents at the beginning of the year to get more information about their child. It's great to hear what they think are their child's strengths and it helps to start a positive relationship. English and Spanish.

In this set you will find three layers of framing: the how and what, the why, and criteria for success. I like to think of the “how and what” as the typical objective that names what kids are doing and how they will do it; the “why” relates the

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Before becoming a teacher, I worked for several years as a before and after school mentor and site director. I have instructed at college preparatory middle schools in Los Angeles for the last three years, and these experiences have certainly focused my vision as a lifelong educator.

MY TEACHING STYLE

For me, the foundations of education are established upon high expectations, dedication, and support through several teaching modalities. I strive to invite my students into projects that access and demonstrate their critical and visual thinking skills. I identify with any teacher that has experienced strong rapport with their students through flexible homogeneous grouping and reciprocal teaching. These special bonds encourage invaluable family partnerships that serve to strengthen the school and community. My personal experiences with youths have taught me the importance of building positive relationships, engaging students, and teaching the whole person. In 2013 I piloted a blended learning model and have been hooked ever since. My students take an "entry ticket" every day that drives their instruction for that day.
