I am currently working as a reading intervention assistant. I spent all of 2014 working as a volunteer English teacher in rural Costa Rica. From 2011 - 2013 I taught 4th grade at a semi-rural school district in Illinois. I have experience working with children as a camp counselor, aide, tutor, educational intern and teacher. I have also spent time abroad in Ghana, West Africa working in the educational system.
I believe that learning should be authentic and engaging. I also love creating and planning lessons that are student-motivated (i.e. students help come up with the topic of study).
ETS Recognition of Excellence
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. I am also TEFL certified and have an ESL endorsement.
I love teaching. I am so grateful to be able to wake up every morning and love what I do.
