With over seven years teaching experience in K-2 classrooms I am continuously learning how to successfully incorporate discussion into the common core curriculum. As a current gifted and talented first grade teacher in the heart of Los Angeles I find my students are aware of current events in the world and how they apply to their current lives and historical events in the past. My goal is to provide opportunities to make these connections in developmentally appropriate pathways through open conversation and structured discussion.
My teaching style reflects my love of open dialogue and exploration of curiosity. My classroom is a place where students are allowed to express opinions and make connections to the curriculum in ways that are relevant to their lives and current events around the world.
I am a current teacher leader and Class Dojo mentor at my school site.
I am a proud graduate of the University of California, San Diego where I earned my B.A. in Sociology, an M.Ed., and teaching credentials in both multiple and single subjects. While I am proud of my formal education, I am humbled each and every day by the knowledge of my colleagues and fellow teacherpreneurs.
Together we can light the way for the next generation to ask the difficult questions, creating positive change in the world. As a first grade teacher based in Los Angeles, my hope is to teach children the art of positive, forward thinking through discussion. We can become ambassadors of change by opening the pathways of conversation and working together to heal our world.
