I created these “cheat sheets” to be used as a bookmark to assist students as they are learning the steps of the PENS and MARK strategies of the KU Sentence Writing Fundamentals. These can be printed on cardstock, and laminated for extra durability.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently teaching grades 7-12 special education. Most of my students are level 1, with a couple level 2 mixed in. I have students with reading (fluency & comprehension), math, and written language goals. Most of my time is spent providing support to students through Specially Designed Instruction during their study hall times. When my schedule allows I also co-teach in the general education English, and math classrooms. Prior to this position I taught level 3 special education, mostly autism, at the K-3 level. I also have experience teaching Kindergarten (1 year), Head Start (1 year), and toddlers at a day care center (1 year).

MY TEACHING STYLE

I mostly teach in small group and 1:1 settings.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am a member of the CEC, and NEA/ISEA.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a BA in Unified Early Childhood Education with an Early Childhood Special Education minor from the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). I also have a MA in Level 2 LD/BD special education for ages 6-21 from Morningside College in Sioux City, IA. I did most of the work for this degree online, with some ICN (Iowa Communications Network) classes.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
