I have taught 30 years at the middle school level 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.
I use art, rhymes, and songs as I teach. I think when you create a special memory with concepts students are more likely to retain the information and have fun as they learn.
My greatest honor has been when high school students come to me and say they remember the songs, rhymes, or activities we did at the middle school level. I have had parents say their high school students still remember the words to rhymes and it helped them on tests and projects. I was voted teacher of the year at Goodlettsville Middle School in Nashville Tennessee and Tupelo Middle School in Tupelo Mississippi.
Graduated from Pearl HIgh School in 1976 as valedictorian. Attended Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee Graduated from Welch College in Nashville with a degree in elementary education. Graduated from Austin Peay State University with a Masters in Education Administration/Curriculum.
I will also be developing sets of analogies for TPT that involve topics in GENERAL SCIENCE.
