TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a teacher in elementary education for 25 years. I have taught K, K-1, 1-2, 2nd grade, and 4th grade. I taught Reading Recovery for 5 years and was a Reading First School Coach for 3 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique, and each child learns in a different way. One of my jobs as a teacher is to help children discover their individuality and work alongside them to maximize it. I believe in teaching students to be responsible and independent learners. I've learned that if I allow my students to be mediocre, they will be mediocre. If I insist that they excel, they do. So, I hold high expectations for all students. They truly deserve that. Throughout the year, we do so many fun things, while students continue to learn. I like to incorporate hands-on learning experiences and technology while students are learning creatively. Each day is an adventure. I learn something new every day, and that's what I hope my students can do as well.
