I started teaching in 1978. I have taught on and off since then, taking off a couple of times to be a stay at home mom. I taught 1st and Kindergarten, also remedial reading and math 2-6. I spent some time subbing, but most of my years have been in 2nd and 3rd. Currently I am back in Kindergarten and loving it. I have a total of 30 years teaching experience. Now I also like sharing my experiences on a blog, Kinder Kapers. Stop by for a visit and join in on the conversation. www.merrykinderkapers.blogspot.com
I love hands on. I love bringing the outdoors in and taking my students out. I like creating and letting my students be creative. I love books, especially picture books. I sometimes feel they are underused for vocabulary development and in other subject areas.
Letters and testimonials from former students, parents, and colleagues are all the thanks I need.
I have a BS in education from Brigham Young University. I have never stopped taking classes or learning.
I am a scouter (Girl Scout, Boy Scout, Trainer, Woodbager), a swimmer, and a dancer too. I have taught all and that influences the way I teach in my classroom.
