TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Second Grade Teacher, Fairport, NY (09/12-present) Grade 2, 24 students, Brooks Hill Elementary School • Differentiated instruction working 1:1 and small groups in literacy, math, and writing. • Created and utilized formative and summative assessment, including Fountas & Pinnell reading assessments and Kathy Richardson math assessments, in planning instruction. • Communicated with parents/guardians through the use of weekly ‘conversation starters’ a, a classroom website, and parent teacher conferences. • Applied behavior and lesson modifications to support student learning. • Integrated the use of technology to increase student interest and understanding. • Contributed in professional development opportunities including grade level and special education meetings as well as common core learning standard examination and application. • Worked closely with consultant special education teacher to support two students with IEPs. MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a child-focused educator who supports student learning through collaboration and integrated instruction. I utilize formative assessment to drive my instruction and value data as a means to target student needs. I push my students to help them grow as learners and effectively utilize standards-based planning methods to support my diverse classroom. As a teacher, I celebrate community and individuality and strive to meet the needs of each student through differentiated instruction and a strong family-teacher partnership. I value literature-enriched instruction and constant collaboration with colleagues. I believe that it is within this type of safe and supportive, yet appropriately challenging, school environment that the whole student can truly flourish.
