I started teaching in 2013 in Richardson, TX. I've taught second and third grade. I've taught at a low socioeconomic school (96% of students on free-and-reduced lunch) and I'm currently teaching at an affluent school in Lake Travis(just west of Austin). I have experience teaching students from all different walks of life, and I believe (and have seen) that all students can be successful no matter their background or home life.
I teach using the discovery method where students are in charge of their own learning and I act as a facilitator of the information. I give the students the concept and they come up with strategies to find a solution. I believe that teaching this way gives students ownership of their own learning and creates authentic learning experiences.
