I am a professionally qualified librarian who has worked for over 20 years in schools in the UK as well as in the pharmaceutical, market research and finance industries. I am passionate about information literacy and the need to include teaching and learning of this vital life skill in the curriculum. I have been training teachers and other librarians as well as students via my own company SP4IL for the last 8 years and have now decided to become a full time trainer and consultant. This gives me more time to devote to my creative ideas. I am linked with other training companies in the UK including Independent Thinking Limited (ITL), Creative Education and The School INSET Company.
My pedagogical style is very hands on and creative. I like to get my trainees to use their brains and understand concepts so that they can then choose to be creative with the facts. I have devised several game based lessons. I am interested in different approaches to learning and in particular the rise in Aural learning and also how to apply Visual learning to understanding information literacy concepts
