11 years of high school teaching on every level, including Advanced Placement Language & Advanced Placement Literature/ Taught in three states in the US: Texas, Illinois, & New York in public, private, and magnet schools
My teaching style is all about discovery and finding ways to enable students to uncover knowledge themselves. Therefore, many of my lesson plans are student-centered. I am also known as "the writing teacher" because I believe that writing is the cornerstone of the English class and that every piece of literature should be selected for the sake of teaching skills and not simply because it's a "classic."
New Teacher of the Year- 2003
M.A. Literature- Northwestern University/ B.A. Literature- University of North Texas
I hail from a small Texas town called Rockwall and now call Brooklyn home after making a pit stop in Chi Town. From "Big D" to the "Big Apple," I have always had a connection to the written word-- through my own creative writing endeavors (music and screenwriting), my literary studies, and my career as a teacher. My husband and I are expecting our first baby in the fall and cannot wait to bring her along on our journey through life with our three "pee" pups. Who knows what the future holds?
