I’ve been teaching Art since 2001. This is the 3rd school district I’ve taught in, which has taught me a lot about how to build up art programs. I get involved at the state level in helping organize a high school art competition, but mainly focus on my school district and Cluster (6 other schools in our area).
My art classes are popular at school and have the full support of the administration. We are constantly adding new projects and ideas as well as generating support from the community. I set high expectations for the students in class and do my best to set them up for success as you will see in my worksheets and sketchbooks. I also love having fun in class! We get serious about artwork but we also keep things a bit relaxed so we can enjoy the time as well!
Nothing recent…I debate about putting more time into NAEA, but feel that my time is better spent in my own classroom and working with our area art teachers from 6 other school districts. Their support has been amazing and we generate SO many ideas together.

I am a workaholic, like most teachers! There are always SO many things to get done, don’t you agree?! But I am learning to balance that out with family life. I have 3 kids and my youngest (very cute little girl) was born Aug. 2015. With my wife being in education (former 4K teacher, Curriculum Coordinator, and Reading Specialist) our kids have very little hope of NOT being immersed in the educational experience! I’ve learned that at the end of the day, its FAMILY that counts and where the bulk of your time should be spent. I am hoping that these worksheets and ideas will save you the YEARS that it took me to develop them so you can spend more time with your family! Thanks for reading this…and thanks for expanding the art world!!
