In my 21 years in the classroom, I have taught almost every grade from k-8, but teaching 6th grade ELA, World History, and Media Studies has been my favorite assignment. In addition to classroom teaching, I have also acted as a mentor teacher, literacy coach, common core instructional coach, and after-school program coordinator. My ideas on teaching, learning, and lesson design have been published in four books.
I am constantly pursuing new ways to update and upgrade my teaching methods to continue to meet the ever changing needs of the diverse population of students that I work with. I am passionate about student engagement, mindfulness, and collaboration. I am a facilitator of meaningful student interaction and a fan of student driven, project based learning.
