I am a second year teacher in an urban school setting in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I LOVE it!!! I taught Kindergarten and I now teach 1st grade.
I would say I am still going through the learning curve; however, procedures, procedures, procedures are my most important rule. If the students do not do it right, they must do it again the right way. Then we can have fun learning. I have "fidget" balls for the students when it is testing time, writing time, or any stressful time for them. However, there are always procedures for them. I am learning the WBT - whole brain teaching philosophy and have really tried to use it this year. I think it is an effective way to get the students involved in their own learning.
I am a Phi Theta Kappa alumni. I was one of the Indiana regional officers for Phi Theta Kappa from 2008-2009.
I graduated from Indiana University at IPFW in May 2012.
I have been married since 1993 and have 3 wonderful daughters. Sometimes they are my guinea pigs for my ideas for the classroom!
