Teaching children how to read by far has been my greatest teaching experience. Most of my teaching experience is with kindergarten, but I have taught other primary grades too. This really has given me a solid foundation and great perspective when it comes to creating curriculum resources and helps me to design resources with rigor and options for differentiating instruction. My journey as an educator started back in 2000 in a child development center, which helped me to decide to move on with my degree in elementary education. I began my first year as a kindergarten teacher in 2005. I have both a master's and bachelor's degree in elementary education.
I hold a strong hands-on philosophy and love to find new ways to make learning engaging and fun. The most effective teaching is relevant. What is more relevant to the world of a child than play? One wise professor said that if somehow you can call it a game, you will have them engaged and learning. I am always looking for ways to make learning relevant to the world of young children by upping the degree of fun while still meeting very high educational standards.
Emmy…just joking!
