I've taught groups of children from pre-kindergarten groups, right through all the primary grades to grade 6. I've taught many composite classes (mixed, like grade 2-3, 5-6). I've been a support teacher of students with special needs from grade 7 to 10. I'm loving the support teaching and am trying to focus on building more resources for older kids with learning disabilities. When I went searching for special education resources I was thrilled to find a few online, but there aren't many with the content needed for Australian kids, or with the skills broken down to the simplest steps.For this reason, I began making some simple activities to support students who really need the simple 'step 1, step 2' format, but don't want the cute graphics of early childhood materials.
I love to teach literacy and numeracy concepts using interactive games. I like to give my students a mix of hands-on, taking turns with real people, games, as well as fantastic online interactive resources. My games have been designed for learners from kinder to about grade 2, but most can be effectively used with older students who need the visual aids and games to reinforce their learning. I love being able to use a game to draw kids in, engage them in learning, and see them bursting with pride at their own success each day!

I have a Bachelor of Education from the University of Tasmania.
I began publishing original games and activities on my website, The Classroom Kit, in 2008. My website was a passion for a few years, but then I became so busy with new roles in new schools, that I forgot to nurture it. I'm in the process of rediscovering and reinventing The Classroom Kit, in the light of my recent years of work with students with disability in high schools.
