TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've taught 6th grade for almost my entire career, but in two very distinct ways. My first teaching position was at a charter school where I taught 6th grade for eleven years. Sixth grade was considered an elementary grade there, and so I have taught all the disciplines for the majority of my career. Wanting another challenge, I moved on to a local middle school and have been teaching sixth grade math for six years. For the majority of my career I have enjoyed acting as a team leader, grade level leader, and content representative. I have presented at several conferences focusing on organizational techniques, classroom management, and social studies curriculum. I like to make my fellow educator's job easier whenever possible.

MY TEACHING STYLE

During my teaching of social studies, I specialized in using simulations to bring the history alive. Overall, I tend to use a variety of teaching styles based on my goals and objectives for each lesson. These can vary from direct instruction and journaling, to student led creations, games, cooperative learning, and more. I really like to get kids involved in their learning and make things hands on.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

B.S. in Secondary Education - University of Wisconsin: Milwaukee (Major: history; Minor: geography)

When I was eight years old I had a second grade teacher that had a remarkable effect on me and showed me what a teacher could really do to inspire their students. Ever since then I have wanted to be a teacher and try to emulate her. I hope to be even half the educator she was. You can contact me at bnaujoktpt@gmail.com
