I student taught in Grades 1-4. However, my longest experience has been in second grade where I've developed and implemented curriculum in the mathematics, literacy, ELA, science and social studies subject areas. Currently, I am still teaching second grade and I could not LOVE it more!
I am a big fan of a fun-filled classroom environment! Curriculum is important and I use it as a valuable resource, but I'm not afraid to use it as just a guideline. Once I align my lessons with the curriculum and standards, I make sure that I find fun and engaging learning activities to enhance student growth in all content areas! My classroom is also centered loosely around flexible seating so I enjoy incorporating that into my instruction as well.
During my student teaching experience, I was selected by the McDowell Institute (a publication at Bloomsburg University focusing on positive behavior support) to be interviewed for an educational article about teachers excelling in classroom management. I gave my experience and advice to upcoming teachers in the field.
I attended Bloomsburg University where I earned a dual Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood (PK-3) and Special Education (PK-8). I am currently pursuing my Masters Degree in Literacy, with a concentration in Reading Specialist!
If I wasn't a teacher, I would for sure be an artist. I LOVE anything art! I take pride in knowing that I can make anything for my classroom myself and I love being able to share that with everyone! From drawing to painting, coloring to digital design, I can't get enough art and I love integrating that into my classroom.
