I am currently a School Counselor at a middle school in Wilmington, NC. I have worked with 6th-8th graders over the past four years. Previously, I was a School Counselor at an elementary school for seven years. Before becoming a School Counselor, I was an elementary teacher and worked with students in K-3rd grade both in NC and in CA.
I am a creative problem solver who is focused on solutions. I enjoy organizing thoughts, concepts, and information which allow School Counselors to manage student needs, lessons, programs, etc. I'm always thinking of new ideas to track data and follow the ASCA model guidelines/recommendations.
I served as an Elementary School Counselor Lead Team Representative in our county for two and a half years.
I received my Masters of Arts degree from Azusa Pacific University in 2004 and my Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1997.
I've been featured on our local TV station and did various clips about sibling rivalry and back to school preparations. I was also in a local magazine highlighting back to school tips. Currently, I work alongside my colleague and tape a monthly show with a student panel where we discuss important topics pertaining to middle school students.
