TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my seventh year teaching. I taught 4th grade for three years and I am on my fourth year teaching 3rd grade. In my seven years, I have been grade-chair three years, an instructional facilitator two years, science fair chair three years, and a robotics coach one year (so far). I have also been on a textbook adoption committee for science.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My goal as a teacher is to teach students how to think and to entice them to engage with what they are learning, not how to sit still and be receptacles of content. Learning content is a by-product of learning how to think and problem solve.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I won TIF ( teacher incentive fund) awards for my students' standardized test scores at my previous district. I was recently awarded teacher of the month at my newest school.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from UCF's Burnett Honors College after writing a thesis on teaching physical science in elementary school. I hold a B.S. in elementary education. I have a fondness for science, and also spend several years in college as a T.A. for an entry-level college physics course.

I currently teach in TN. I am both a mother and a teacher, and therefore, perpetually exhausted.
