TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a 6th grade English and history teacher for 15 years in an accelerated honors program in New York City. I have also taught 7th grade, in the same school, with a focus on United States history.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I enjoy creating fun and engaging Powerpoint lessons and hands on activities. Discussion is a big part of my class, and I use my presentations and activities to generate interest and curiosity in my students.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I won an NYC Blackboard teaching award in 2009.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received an elementary education degree at Syracuse University in 1998 and taught kindergarten for two years at a private school in Manhattan. Then I enrolled at Bank Street Graduate School of Education in New York City, where I earned an Early Adolescent degree with a focus in English. I have been teaching at an honors middle school in NYC since 2001. I am certified in elementary education common branches, English grades 5-9, and gifted and talented education.
