1) Lydia Averhill Hurd Smith Fellow This award goes to a select number of outstanding graduate students who exemplify Dr. Lydia Smith's vision of excellence. Dr. Smith was a great admirer of John Dewey, who believed that exemplary teachers are committed to: lifelong learning; continuous examination of one's teaching practice; involving each student in the active construction of knowledge; and writing as a critical tool in one's own intellectual development and expression. The nomination was based on outstanding performance in the classroom and an excellent academic record. 2) PeopleAdmin's Inspired2Educate The Inspired2Educate platform allows educators to honor the teachers who inspired them to embrace education as their life’s work. A press release announcing the award can be found here.
