This is my 10th year teaching and 9 of those years have been in third grade. I have taught one year in second grade. I teach all subjects as a self-contained teacher. I recently received my Masters in School Counseling and use many of those practices in my classroom.
First and foremost, I believe in building relationships with my students by genuinely listening to what they have to say. I use whole brain teaching, technology, instructional strategies, along with other brain based researched instruction. Using a balanced literacy and balanced math approach to teaching core subjects and integrating science/social studies into my teaching as often as possible. I love music and using it during transitions, as well as lyrical poetry for students to analyze. I look for new fun ways to teach and engage students year after year.
I have awarded Teacher of the Month from Education Credit Union in 2013 and Teacher of the Year from Reeves-Hinger Elementary School this year in 2017, which places in the process to be considered for the Districts Elementary Teacher of the year. .
I graduated from WTAMU in 2007 with a bachelors degree in Science for EC-4 generalist and a special emphasis in ESL. In 2016 I graduated from Lamar University with a Master's Degree in School Counseling K-12.
