I am currently in my 13th year of teaching on the elementary level, however the past 8 years have been teaching pre-kindergarten. During the summer, I teach fourth grade mathematics for LEAP and PARCC remediation.
My teaching style is creative and extremely hands on. I believe in reaching the child where he/she is and building a strong foundation for future learning, both in and out of the classroom. Every child is different. For this reason, I am always learning in order to provide my students with an array of information and experiences.
For the past two years, I have participated in the MASTER (Math and Science Teachers Excellence Rewards) Teachers Program for Pre-K under the ADF (Academic Distinction Fund). Through this program I wrote and was rewarded two $1000 science and mathematics grants for classroom use.
My educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in the area of Child Development. I also am certified in PK-3rd grade.
My husband and I are parents to three wonderful children, that range from early childhood to high school ages. This helps keep me well informed in the things that take place on the elementary, middle, and high school levels for the parent perspective. I truly have the best of both worlds.
