TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently teaching 2nd grade. After 11 years in the classroom I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade general education, English Learners in grades 2-4 in everything from a self contained, multi-grade classroom, as a push-in/pull-out teacher where I could team teach with homeroom teachers, to now in an integrated classroom. I have never taught Kindergarten but since so many of my EL kiddos come to me as Pre-Productions I have taught all the Kinder skills at one time or another.

MY TEACHING STYLE

The vast majority of my teaching is done in small groups or individually. I spend a great deal of time analyzing data and revamping and refining my approach to meet the needs of my very needy students! I believe every student can learn if given the right approach, tools, and time. We use a great deal of technology in my classroom and are starting to explore Blended Learning!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have lived in the Nashville, TN area my entire life. My husband and I met in a community education Fencing class (the kind with swords, not boards!) in 2009 and were married in 2010. We are currently serving as foster parents to an amazing little guy whom we are praying we will be able to adopt. All proceeds from my sales will go directly into our adoption fund to pay our agency for their services in doing our home study, providing legal services, and other things non-profits need to be reimbursed for! Update 2015: We were able to finalize our adoption in December of 2014! Working on the next one now!
