I've taught several years in a variety of elementary grades (my first teaching credential was received in 1998). I love math and science and I love teaching the language arts through these subject areas. Although my experience is in elementary, I'm not afraid of secondary subject matters! I have been a mentor teacher and grade level team leader. I have also taught workshops to teachers. I've been on various committees covering everything from Young Author's Fair to Science Fair.
I believe kids learn best by doing and using higher order thinking skills. I'm a bit of a constructivist. The more variety in presentations the more likely they are to fully understand a concept. Kids are naturally active and inquisitive and when we design their education around this, they are excited about learning...even when it's work. ;)
I've been named my school's Teacher of the Year and was a district Teacher of the Year finalist. I was also named Riverside County Elementary Math Teacher of the Year.
I have a B.S. in Liberal Studies, a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and a Master of Science degree in Teaching and Curriculum Development.
I'm a mom of three, baker/cook, stamper, dog lover, and school addict!
