TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have ten years classroom experience in grades 8-12 (certified in English education and Reading Literacy). I have also worked for approximately ten years with both high school and adult students as a writing tutor, helping individuals research ideas, organize their thoughts, and fine tune their writing.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style can be described as dynamic and fun, but businesslike at the same time. My students know my expectations from the beginning and know that we will work together to ensure each and every one achieves success. I like diversity in both instructional and assessment methods, as students are diverse, themselves. I also like to incorporate a fair amount of technology into both instruction and assessment, as 21st century students are very geared in a technological direction and motivated by this.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I worked for several years writing educational materials for Prestwick House Publishing Company prior to the 2008 recession. I was highly in demand and wrote teacher-made materials on Hamlet, A Thousand Splendid Suns, The Handmaid's Tale, Of Mice and Men, and many others. I look forward to offering my professional expertise, as designing curriculum is a craft I dearly love and have missed being a part of.
