I've been teaching college composition courses since 2006. I was trained to teach rhetoric and composition at Penn State, where I taught for two years before finding my dream teaching job at a community college in Virginia. In this environment, I can focus on teaching and working with my students to help them achieve their academic goals. I also teach American and English literature.
College requires a lot of independent learning, but our students are not always ready to work on their own. I try to provide the support my students need without providing too much "hand-holding." I like to use technology and new tools. The resources I'm sharing with you have been successfully tested in my own classroom, but I'm always happy to hear suggestions and constructive criticism.
Nominated: Faculty of the Year (2016).
