TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught high school ESL, EESL, and ELA. I was teaching EESL when the EESL MELS exam was first introduced. I have attended all workshops given by the MELS and I have spent the last four years creating activities of my own. I also teach senior level ELA. I have a passion for literature and I enjoy this academic level. Recently, my students participated in the international 20/20 challenge. If you are interested in something like this, message me! I have a degree in TESL and I have taught children, teenagers, and adults in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Quebec.

MY TEACHING STYLE

What do you get when you use your B.Sc. in Psychology, B.Ed. in TESL and the teaching experience BEFORE and AFTER the teaching degree? Very interesting classes! My teaching style is based on the idea that learning is a spectrum and teaching needs to be tailored so students can go from one end of the spectrum to the other. I take on a more holistic approach to teaching, where learning is a life skill. I have a very philosophical approach to teaching, and the diversity in my background has helped shape this approach. I think learner autonomy is the key to learning, so I give students a toolbox of strategies to be used in various contexts. What is my ultimate goal? To empower students with learning skills that will serve them long after they leave my classroom.
