First grade stole my heart in 2006. I earned my Masters degree in teaching from the University of Arkansas (Woo Pig!) and also earned my National Board Certification in 2010. I taught first grade for 10 years until making the decision to stay home for a few years with our son, Cooper. When I'm not teaching first grade, I'm busy teaching preschool Sunday School at church and working with my own preschooler at home!
I believe that littles thrive in a rigorous curriculum when it's taught with the brain in mind! That means my classroom is full of integrated curriculum to maximize kid learning and my teaching time! :) I also love TPR (Total Physical Response), group and partner work, flexible seating options and fun and engaging activities that encourage life long learners.
