I have my BAE in Elementary Education from Florida Atlantic University and over 13 years of teaching experience. Throughout my career, I have taught all subject areas in 5th grade, 3rd-grade math and science, and all subject areas for students in Home-bound for grades 6th through 11th. For the last few years, I have taught departmentalized 5th-grade math and science. Teaching is not only my profession, it is my passion!
Teaching has always been my passion in life. As an individual diagnosed with ADHD, my heart has a soft spot for students that struggle to stay on task and focus during instruction. In my classroom, I use chants, raps, and songs, in combination with physical motions, to introduce vocabulary, concept skills, and problem-solving strategies, in both math and science. Research shows that after 15 minutes of physical inactivity, the human brain starts to fade into sleep mode. We use mnemonics and motion that cross the mid-line, hands on STEM challenges, science experiments, math manipulatives, and/or classroom cheers every day. This spices up whole group instruction and encourages information transfer from short to long term memory. Each lesson also incorporates multi sensory instruction to ensure every learner’s needs are met. Inattentiveness is no longer a problem. Students are engaged, enthusiastic, and hungry for knowledge! There is nothing more rewarding than seeing my passion for learning transfer to my students!
