I am an elementary school teacher who has taught every grade except Kindergarten. I've been in the classroom nearly 13 years and have found something to love about each grade level I have taught. Something positive about moving around so much is knowing just what is expected at the grade level below and above the one I am currently teaching! It keeps me on my toes, for sure!
I have a lot of "old-school" in my teaching style mixed with fun learning techniques like songs/rhymes. While I am not in love with Common Core, I see its overall value. But I do tend to work in important things into my curriculum like geography, social studies, parts of speech, etc.. I still think it is important for my students to have some common sense.

I started out on the pre-med track, but had always truly wanted to teach. I imagined myself at the high school level teaching science, but fell in love with Elementary Education! I have a bachelor's degree in Biological Science, a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, a Master's Degree in Library Science, and a Master's Degree in School Counseling.
I am mother to 3 wonderful, active little boys ages 9, 7, and 5. I also coach swimming for 2 local high schools in my "spare time."
