I have been teaching for 12 years now in a public school setting. Prior to graduating college, I got started teaching as an adult literacy teacher. That experience changed my whole passion for teaching and I switched my major to special education. I was the special education teacher for six years. I transitioned into the regular classroom a few years ago and taught a split 1/2 class for two years. Two Years ago I began my training to become a Certified Academic Language Therapist. I have completed my two years of training and am waiting to take the certification test. I also worked on my master's degree during the past two years. I just recently graduated with a M. Ed in Special Education with an emphasis in Dyslexia and School Psychometry.
My style reflects my passion for my students. I believe in teaching with love and fun but also with high expectations. My students feel safe in my room and know they are loved but also know I expect a lot out of them and will help them in any way I can.
I once won an award for an essay I wrote called, "Why I Love to Teach." I was selected out of a group of teachers in my state. It was a huge honor b/c the essay was written about my passion for special needs students.
My Bachelor's degree is in Special Education and is from the University of Central Oklahoma. I am certified to teach elementary and early childhood. I just finished my Master's degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Dyslexia. I am working on my license to be come a school psychometrist, reading specialist, and CALT (Certified Academic Language Therapist).
I am a wife and a mama. My husband and I have two daughters. I teach at a small rural school in Oklahoma. I love my school and my students.
