I have three years of teaching experience all in ELA, including English IV and AP Literature and Composition (3 years). I am certified in Social Studies (6-12) and ELA (9-12). I am currently teaching at a very rural high school in North Carolina. I also have two years experience teaching a leadership class called Peer Group Connection, a national program from Center for Supportive Schools.
The foundation of my teaching style is to try to make learning as fun as possible. That may sound a little cliche, but I truly believe that if students are not engaged and enjoying their class they probably are not learning anything. The majority of the time I teach my class in a circle to encourage discussion and collaborative learning. I am still new to teaching, but I am constantly changing my methods based on the students that I have and trying new things.
