TEACHING EXPERIENCE

First we are rooted, then we rise. Welcome to The Grounded Classroom. My mission is to create a space where students feel connected to, and grounded within, their classroom community. Here will be shared resources for creating a grounded classroom with a connected community of students, adults, and parents. I will also share other materials which have been beneficial and enjoyed in my first grade classroom! Thank you for visiting!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Student centered with a focus on integrating empathy, community and curiosity within curriculum.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My biggest honor is teaching my students daily. The world is a place of wonder and being with minds who see the wonder in every day is the best kind of work there is!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, Master's Degree in Reading

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

In addition to years teaching I also spent time as a national speaker and non-profit director focused on leveraging play as a vehicle for social change in schools with struggling populations. In all my experiences I have witnessed the power of community and compassion to grow student confidence and success. You can also check out my Facebook page, The Grounded Classroom for other great free resources.
