I have had seven years of experience as a high school social studies teacher and three years of experience as an administrator.
History is by far the most important and exciting subject! I believe teachers should ask their students deep, compelling and relevant questions. High schoolers have so much passion and history class can be the perfect place to harness it and inspire learning! I believe the learning process should be intriguing, inspiring, authentic, inquiry-driven, student-centered, differentiated and project-based (as much as possible).

I attended high school in the suburbs of Houston before receiving my history degree from The University of Texas at Austin. Following my student teaching experience in the Austin area, I taught social studies for seven years in Brooklyn and in the South Bronx in schools with both traditional and progressive learning models. During this time I earned my masters in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College at Columbia University. The last three years of my career were spent as an assistant principal in the South Bronx.
I traded in my school ID to become a professional Stay-At-Home Mom to my beautiful little monkey, who keeps me quite busy. Thanks for visiting my store!
