TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Multiple cross-country moves have allowed/encouraged me to experience working with all ages of students from pre-K through college, including students in special needs and gifted programs. Observation of the similar needs across the entire age range forced the missing elements of the curriculum at the time, causing me to consider the similarities of these needs and how they might be addressed. As a result, I have created a series of strategies which implement writing as a unifier that may be applied across all curricular areas and all ages to provide the methods for “HOW TO TEACH…”, which moves beyond the “WHAT TO TEACH…” provided by curricula and standards.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Hands-on, inquiry based, with a focus on deductive reasoning, problem solving and critical thinking with an emphasis on maintaining a high level of student engagement.
