Before becoming a school counselor, I taught 3rd grade for three years and 5th grade for four years. I enjoyed all seven years of being a classroom teacher, in addition to my years as a school counselor. I was at the elementary level for four years, middle school for two years, and this year will be my first year as a high school counselor. I am really looking forward to the new experience and continuing to learn and grow professionally.
I would describe my teaching style as interactive, engaging, and student centered. I like to use bright, fun colors and visuals. I feel like the students learn the best when they are active and involved with whole group lessons. When working with a small group or individual students, I zone into each student’s personal needs, while still maintaining a high level of student collaboration.
