I have taught all standard courses North Carolina offers and have used my diverse teaching experiences to develop materials that focus on the core of what we hope to achieve through mathematics education-the development of reasoning.
I approach math as a foreign language with my students, focusing on whether or not they can communicate their ideas mathematically. My students learn through experiments, debates, and communicating their thoughts in writing. Mistakes are the best teachers, and epiphanies lie within controversies. Mathematics should be explored, not memorized.
I am recognized as a highly qualified math teacher in the state of North Carolina. I have been featured on PD360 for my use of technology in the context of developing proofs.
I studied Secondary Mathematics Education at Appalachian State University as a NC Teaching Fellow.
The language of reasoning that is learned through mathematics is limited only by the learner who speaks it. If you learn to reason, you can learn anything. I hope you enjoy my resources and that they help your students become lifelong learners of logic.
