Elizabeth Almann (dba The Learning Light LLC) is the author and instructor of Spanish that Works (TM), a course in practical Spanish conversation that can be customized to fit the needs of a specific group or organization. Before creating Spanish that Works, Elizabeth taught middle school Spanish and Language Arts in Albuquerque, New Mexico; high school ESL in Tempe, Arizona; and was a Spanish instructor for Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona.
Spanish that Works is a "creative, functional approach to basic communication in Spanish." As a community college Spanish instructor, Elizabeth recognized the need for a practical beginning level course that would allow working adults to build confidence and fluency in speaking, without being overwhelmed by grammar rules and conjugations. In the past, Spanish that Works was available only to organizations as a kit, reproducible on a license basis. The supplemental materials are now being offered here, on TpP, and the revised course text ("Spanish that Works for You") is available on Amazon.
Spanish that Works has been successfully implemented by almost a hundred organizations (mostly libraries) in more than thirty different states.
Elizabeth Almann is certified to teach Art and Spanish K-12 in Montana. She has a B.A. in Studio Art and Spanish from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX and a Master of Education from Montana State University - Billings.
