I graduated in December of 2011. Anxious to begin my career, I accepted a position in a Kindergarten class for six weeks, while the teacher was on maternity leave. I finished the school year substituting in every grade level from Pre-K to 5th grade. I taught 2nd grade for two years. I taught 3rd grade for one year, and looped with my students to 4th! We are so glad we looped!
Two words love and laughter! Love and laughter are the driving forces that make up my teaching style. When students are in an atmosphere of love and laughter, learning is inevitable and the possibilities are endless.
A shining teacher moment for me, was working on a two year committee to redevelop the Florida Teacher Certification Exam. From validating test items, to setting the new passing scores, the entire experience allowed me to impact our educational system in a major way. I can certainly say it was quite humbling to know my decisions would impact thousands of people hoping to enter the teaching profession in the Sunshine State.
