I am a 4th grade teacher in my 10th year of teaching. I have taught grades 3-5 with most of my experience in 3rd and 4th grade. My passion lies in Reading and Writing, though I love finding ways to incorporate Reading and Writing into my Math and Science curriculum. I have spent two summers at Writers Camp hosted by Poynter Institute of Journalism in St. Petersburg, Florida. In addition, I was identified by my district as a Writing Demonstration teacher. In pursuit to continually grow professionally, I received my M.A. in Reading Education from USF, St.Petersburg, FL.
I try to incorporate literacy across subject areas, as well as give students opportunities to have hands-on experiences. I think our students need a balance of teaching styles because as we all know, they come to us with a variety of learning styles each and every day. As our standards continue to become more rigorous, I believe it is my job to create curriculum which will allow them to meet those expectations, yet still enjoy the journey.
