TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've taught middle schoolers for 31 years with the last 27 years being in the same school system. 15 years were spent teaching science and the last 15 years have focused on literacy.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to use the workshop approach to teaching literacy. I get to know my students well and teach to their strengths.

I am National Board Certified since 2013 My class and I won first place in the nation in the Amway/Newsweek "Environmental Class Act Competition" in 1991

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received my Bachelor's degreee in Elementary Education from Arkansas State University. I received my Master's degree in Reading/Reading Specialist from Harding University.

My children, Elizabeth, Katie, and Jackson are grown and have left the nest. I live in Jonesboro, AR with my three dogs: Simon, Rizzo, and Angel.
