TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 18th year teaching high-school mathematics. I am currently teaching P/AP Algebra 2 at an Early College High School. I have taught Algebra I and II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, both regular and P/AP. I have also taught dual-credit mathematics and a few college courses at our city's community college since 2010.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I present my class lessons with a little bit of lecture, followed by engaging and fun team-activities so that students can practice new skills. I use technology in the classroom as often as I can. I incorporate use of a student interactive notebook on a daily basis.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was selected Teacher of the Year at my campus for the 2014-2015 school year.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from The University of Texas at El Paso in 1996. I later went back to school and received a Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics, also from UTEP, in 2006.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am the mother of two beautiful teenage girls. I love to travel with my wonderful husband and my daughters, especially to places where we can ride roller coasters!
