Hello, friends! My name is Erica Flowers-Burge, and I am a 4th grade teacher. I am entering my fourth year of teaching and I can honestly say that teaching is very fulfilling for me! I love working with children and I am also enjoying learning how to create engaging resources to make learning fun for students!
I am a table teacher, meaning I give my students a voice in my classroom. We often have table discussions, and as a group, we discuss our decisions and the direction of our classroom (within reason of course). I want my students to feel a sense of ownership in our classroom, and as young people, I want my students to understand that their voice is important. This fosters a safe and collaborative learning environment. I also love getting hands-on and using technology in my classroom as well, anything to make learning fun!
What is most rewarding to me is seeing my students grow and learn in the classroom everyday. Seeing their willingness to adapt, work together, and help one another to become a team is the best reward yet.
I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Collaborative Education from Auburn University Montgomery in 2013. I will receive my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University Montgomery in December 2016.
