TEACHING EXPERIENCE

During college I worked as a Mathematics tutor for middle, secondary, and college level students. Since I graduated from college in 2008 with a License to Educate, I have taught Mathematics at the middle, secondary, and college levels to sighted and visually impaired students. I have served as a Lead Mathematics Teacher, Mathematics Department Head, Head of a Mathematics Curriculum writing team, and as a member of the writing panel for my state's Mathematics Standards. I previously taught secondary mathematics in a public school setting. After five years in public school, I transferred to teach 7th - 12th grade mathematics to visually impaired students at my state's public school for the blind. Currently, I am the assistant principal at my state's public school for the blind.

MY TEACHING STYLE

In my classroom, textbooks are rarely used. I prefer to design Mathematics lessons that are creative and have relevant real-world components. My students learn through discovery and collaboration in order to help them develop their critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
