By The Old Barn Teaching Co I have been teaching for 10 years. I have taught almost every grade. I have experience in CKLA, Benchmark Advance, Beyond Textbooks, Engage NY, Singapore Math, Guided Math, Guided Reading, and Saxon Math. I love writing and teaching students how to work smarter and not harder. I have worked with many different curriculums.
Activity or action method, I try to encourage self-learning through peer-to-teacher learning. In contrast to the lecture style, teachers ask students to question rather than give them the answer. The goal is for students to develop a deeper understanding of the topic by using self-discovery and develop problem-solving skills. This technique is best used in small classroom settings because, as a facilitator, the teacher needs to interact with students on an individual basis, which can be difficult with a larger number of students.
I have been teacher of the Year twice. Once for Arizona, and once for my school. It is amazing and such an honor to have anyone think you are a teacher of the year. I have experienced it twice.
I have a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I am now working on my Doctoral program.
I have a passion for teaching. I build relationships with my students and families. They are the reason I am here and do what I am doing. I love teaching. I love teaching other people how to love teaching and learning.
