I have been a high school English teacher for over 20 years. Having taught in both the midwest and the east coast regions of the country, I understand the importance of diversity in lesson planning.
Relationships in the classroom are what make education a success. My goal is to have my students master the necessary concepts while developing a rapport with them. The relationships are developed by adapting lessons to include things in which I know that my students hold an interest. My student engagement increased as I developed relationships and allowed students to participate in their own learning plans. The result of this process has developed lesson plans which, like old school Choose Your Own Adventure books, all students to have choices throughout the unit as they cover the necessary standards. My lesson plans cover all levels of English from remedial level to college prep to honors/college/AP/IB. They are easily adaptable to meet any differentiated needs. My curriculum is designed to be colorful, engaging, and interactive. Often times I use humor to keep students interested (especially with grammar).
